Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb beef chuck, cut into 1.5-inch cubes
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Shaoxing wine
  • 4 slices ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 2 dried chilies (optional)
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 2 carrots, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 cup daikon radish, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
