Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs firm white fish (e.g., kingfish, mackerel), cut into pieces
  • 1.5 cups coconut milk (thick)
  • 4-5 pieces kokum (Malabar tamarind), soaked
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp garlic, finely chopped
  • 3-4 green chilies, slit
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • Salt to taste
