Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 stalks lemongrass, bruised and sliced
  • 5 slices galangal
  • 4 kaffir lime leaves, torn
  • 1 cup straw mushrooms, halved
  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 2-3 Thai chilies, crushed (or to taste)
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tbsp Tom Yum paste (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
